For small business owners, networking can open many doors of opportunities to promote their activities. Having referrals from a network of contacts can lead to higher sales and better business performance.

Networking can be most ideal if your business belongs to the service industry like financial advising, accounting, massage therapy, the arts, and law. But it can still be effective for businesses in other industries and sectors.

Building relationships to create a network may require more time and effort. But it will surely be worth it because networking is logically one of the most effective and cost effective forms of marketing.

Thus, experts advise startups to make networking a significant part of their business and marketing plans. Here are simple but strategic steps on how to use networking to obtain business success.

5 Excellent Tips to Networking for Business Success

One

Attend events to meet new acquaintances and at the same time develop new and prospective business relationships. If you are aiming to build a business network, attend trade shows, chamber of commerce meetings, and network/organization conventions. Most attendees of those events usually come for the same purpose: to meet people and establish new business relationships. If you are attending business events, always remember that you are there to promote your business more than to socialize.

Two

Target the right prospects. The best leads are usually found through accountants and specialized law firms. Accountants and lawyers are good in introducing their clients to each other because they also do so in purpose: to get referrals so they can retain existing clients and have new clients. Don’t ever think that randomly handing out your business card will work.

Three

Use your ingenuity and creativeness to draw attention and interest of contacts who you think can truly help your business. Again, target your prospects. Be strategic in planning to meet them and have even a short but substantive chat with them. If you have to buy their products, do so just to establish contact with your prospects.

Eventually, you will be acquainted with each other and exchange business prospects.

Four

Come to any business event or occasion well-prepared. Have your business cards ready. At times, you may find attending social functions like weddings as opportunities for getting sales leads. You may also handout your business cards when you meet new people at the gym, ballgames, and airport lounges.

Five

Do not bombard new acquaintances with too much information about your business. You might just overwhelm them for the wrong reasons.

Aim to divulge more on your second meeting unless of course the new acquaintances want to know more. Know their problems and try to imply that you know how to help them. Be ready to be more engaging and informative when they call you after the first or second meeting.

100 Ways to Build a List and Improve Your Opt-In Subscriber Rate

This is series 1 of a continuing 10 part series. Be sure to keep an eye out for the second series coming next week!

With today’s new network marketing style, building a mailing list is as important for the MLMer as it is the Internet and Affiliate marketer.

By now you already know how important it is to have our own website. In my humble opinion, a personal website is the first step in beginning any online venture.

So these” 100 Tips and Techniques” are targeted to those of you who either have a website, or are planning on building one in the near future.

So, let’s get started!

1. The “Specific Date” Technique:
Tell your potential subscribers they will receive a free bonus for subscribing to your list on or before a specified date. Time is of the essence using this technique. Always create a sense of urgency and your prospect will opt-in sooner than later.

2. The “Just 60 Minutes Left” Technique:
Here’s another “urgency” technique. Warn your prospect that they only have 60 minutes left to receive the free bonus! You could have a timer counting down the time on your opt-in form. This often gets the opt-in immediately to avoid the chance of missing the bonus.

3. The “Here’s Your First Lesson” Technique:
Offer your prospective subscribers a free education for opting in. Using an autoresponder, you could send your readers a daily or weekly lesson. Most subscribers enjoy e-courses spread out over a certain period of time. You could even include an ad with each lesson.

4. The “Free E-Report” Technique:
Tempt your prospect by offering a valuable report for opting-in to your e-mail list. Your product could be a 5 plus page free report educating your readers on a certain “problem” within their niche. You could have it ready to download in PDF format on your “thank you for subscribing” page.

5. The “Tease Me” Technique:
Tell your potential subscribers they will get a free sample chapter of an e-book you are selling if they subscribe. People like to get a sneak preview of products before they buy them. Even if they don’t buy your e-book, you’ll have the opportunity ti turn them into paying customers down the road.

It’s not necessarily easy to build a list, but it is more than worth the effort. In fact, building a list will help keep the prospect funnel working smoothly!

6. The “Great Deal” Technique:
This technique tells your potential subscribers they will get a coupon or discount to one of your products for subscribing. People love getting a good deal and all they would have to do is opt-in to your list or e-zine.

7. The “JV Product Discount” Technique:
Offer your prospects a “discounted deal” on another supplier’s e-product when they join your list.
You could set up a joint venture deal with another information product seller. They would get more sales and you will build your list quicker.

8. The “Is It Worth It?” Technique:
Tell your potential subscribers how much the free bonus for subscribing is worth. Prospects want to feel like they are getting a “good deal” by joining your list. Let your prospects know the retail cost of the product and what it normally sells for online.

9. The “Go Viral” Technique:
Offer your prospective subscribers a free e-book for opting-in. Place an ad or additional links in your e-book, and give your subscribers re-sell rights to sell your book on their sites. This technique can become a viral marketing program in your personal arsenal.

10. The “Swipe Them” Technique:
Offer for you prospective subscribers FREE Private Label Rights. PLR products make a great incentive to get more subscribers to opt-in to your list. People will be able to read and use the FREE PLR as they wish. Private label content is getting more popular within the IM industry each year.

Be sure to check back in the next few days to catch the second installment of “100 Ways to Build a List Improve Your Opt-In Subscriber Rate”!

<img class="alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-260" title="tweeter500" src="http://www.networkmarketingtoday.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/tweeter500-150x150.jpg" alt="Tweeter" "hspace="15"vspace="15" width="200" height="200" />If you work in the marketing industry or if you own your own business, then you may or may not be aware of how useful Twitter can be to help you generate more income.

Not only that, because there are currently more than 200 million people who use Twitter on a regular basis not using Twitter to promote your business, service or product could mean missing out on attracting millions of potential customers as well.

Whether you are new to Twitter and you don’t know where to start, or even if you currently own a Twitter account and you’re hoping to accumulate more followers for your business, here are five tips on how you can effectively use Twitter as a promotional tool:

1. Use Your Business Name as Your Twitter Account

If you haven’t set up a Twitter account for your business, then be sure to include the name of your business in the name of your Twitter account name and if you have room try to include some keywords related to your business as well. (For example, if you work in the art industry try putting the word “art” or “artist” in your Twitter account). This way others users can find out what your account (and/or business) is all about before they even click on your profile.

2. Use Your Logo as Your Twitter Picture

This point may seem fairly obvious, but it can’t be stressed enough. If you have a logo for your business then it’s extremely important to use it as your Twitter profile. Whenever your tweet shows up in someone’s newsfeed your picture will be the first thing that they will see. If you don’t have a business logo, then hire someone to design one for you, but make sure it is colorful and eye-catching so it will (hopefully) draw potential customers to your account.

3. Use Relevant #Hashtags

One of the most effective ways to promote or market a service or product on Twitter is to put a number symbol in front of a word so that way your tweet is directed towards a specific audience. For instance, if you work as a fashion designer, you should be using hashtags for words like #clothes, #fashion and #apparel so the words will show up in someone’s newsfeed whenever they search for that specific hashtag.

4. Offer Deals to Your Followers

Another great way to not only get promotion for your business but generate more revenue as well is to offer special deals and discounts to anyone who follows you and/or retweets any of your tweets. It will give your followers more incentive to check out your profile on a daily basis while spreading the word about your products and services at the same time.

5. Follow Your Competitors

And last, but certainly not least, another great way to learn how you can use Twitter to promote your business is to check out other competing businesses and see what they are doing. You don’t necessarily have to follow them or retweet what is on their profile, but it may be a good idea to check back on their account on a regular basis so you can get some ideas on how to promote your business.

Staying in control is important. React with kindness and show that you are a professional.

In Network marketing not everyone agrees with what you are doing. They feel the need to let you know their opinion. They usually don’t care about the outcome of the situation because they don’t want anything to do with your business. Belittling it makes them think they are in control.

Have you heard “that is a crazy idea” or “get a real job”? You may not appreciate the way this individual treated or spoke to you. You think that retaliation is in order.

Well, you may be right and the best type of retaliation is a KIND deed. Send them a Thank you card for their time or drop them an e-mail. Never retaliate in a negative or aggressive manner.

Always react with kindness and a smile. This makes you the bigger person and you can feel good about yourself no matter what.

Seriously, You Need to Create a Business Website!

Here are 4 excellent reasons you should create a business website for your network marketing venture.

Hey, we all know the power of the network marketing model. Combine it with the power of the internet and your chances of success grow big time!

Just think about it. The exponential growth of network marketing combined with the lead generation capabilities of the web, and you’ve got a pretty powerful combination.

4 Powerful Reasons to Create a Business Website

1. Generate leads

In network marketing, your survival depends on a continuous stream of prospects. A website is the #1 tool for generating leads. And it works 24 hours a day, each and every day!

2. Training Platform

After you create a business website, you will have an excellent tool for training your organization. It provides access to your “distance” team who can’t attend weekly meetings and training sessions. All of your training can be filed or archived for easy availability to your downline. You can also video tape your trainings, create audio files, and create slideshow presentations. All of these techniques can then be embedded in your website.

3. Share and Update

One very important aspect that is often overlooked is providing time sensitive information to your organization. If you have a blog or a website, you can post the information and updates as they happen! You can train your team to check in daily so they can get the news in a timely fashion.

4. Generate Additional Income

Your business website will allow you to create additional streams of income. Advertising, online sales, affiliate marketing, well the list goes on and on. The thing to remember is your website shouldn’t cost you money, it should make you money!

To your success,

It’s about finding the best mlm business for you.

Here are some thoughts for those of you who are just getting started in network marketing. If you are not already affiliated with a company, here are a few things you might want to look for.

The Product or Service

Is the product or service you will be selling something that you use? First person testimonials are always a good way to start a presentation. If you are required to buy or use a certain amount of product in order to stay current, remember that this might become a burden when there is no money coming in at the beginning.

Due Diligence

A good idea is to check out the company with the Chamber of Commerce, The Better Business Bureau, Dun and Bradstreet, or the Direct Sellers’ Association (DSA), which is an organization that monitors and rates MLM companies. This simple action could save you time, money, and heartache.

It Takes Work

And this brings up another point. Don’t be fooled into believing this is a get rich quick endeavor. Beware of a company or salesman who promises you a fast buck. The money you make will depend on how much time and effort you are willing to put in. Do you plan on doing this eight hours a day, or eight hours a week? The effort you put in will make a difference on how long it will take you to start producing an income.

Training and Support

It’s a plus if the company offers a training program. If not, good upline support will be a goldmine for you. Learn from those who have gone before you. Keep in touch with them as they can probably give you answers to the questions that come up along the way. And they will be glad to share their ideas and knowledge with you, because your success makes them money. That’s the way MLM works, and it is getting bigger every day. If you have any ideas on getting started In Network Marketing, please leave a comment. I would like to hear from you.

To your success!

We need immediate cash flow now, and we need residual income to insure retirements that are slipping away from us!

So, can both be done?

Absolutely!

How?

By looking at some less “traditional” methods of making money.

Step outside the box, push the envelope, and look beyond your “8 to 5” job!

If you have never considered the possibilities of network marketing and internet marketing, you are missing the boat and now is the time to get onboard! Both provide opportunities to make money now and to generate a continuing stream of residual income down the road.

Network marketing is nothing more than direct selling without the middleman. Many businesses are offering us the rights to sell their products for commissions that would normally be paid to advertising companies.

A Long Term Residual Income Solution

Your long term “residual income” business is built as you find other like-minded people who want to join you in making money this way and build their own “residual income” business. Internet marketing offers many variations of direct selling, on steroids and at warp speed!

People online are buying goods, services, and information with just a few keystrokes and at all hours of the day and night. Companies will pay you commissions to “market their products” for them, and there is an entire industry out there ready to help you learn how.

The residual income possibilities with internet marketing are almost mind-boggling, as the internet truly works for you 24/7, 365 days a year! When looking at network and internet marketing opportunities, consider these questions:

Is this a solid, stable, and ethical company?

Is this a product I can get behind?

Is the compensation plan competitive with other companies?

Does this company offer education and support?

What are my upfront and continuing costs?

How long before I will be making money?

So if you are interested, please continue on for more information on network marketing, internet marketing, and residual income opportunities.

Is it Possible for Anyone Achieve MLM Success?

Well, yes and no.

It all boils down to your personal “why” and why you want to become a Network Marketer.

If your “why” is bigger than your “why not”, you can succeed. If it’s big enough to make you stay the course, you can succeed.

If your why is big enough to make you change the things that need changing in your personal life, you will succeed.

MLM success, comes through personal growth. Positive internal change creates positive external change.

During your due diligence stage, you will read that approximately 95% of new marketers fail. Personally, I believe this statistic is totally skewed. It is misunderstood and should be qualified.

The majority of network marketers don’t fail, they simply quit. Unfortunately, most newcomers to NM suffer from the “microwave mentality”, the need for instant gratification. According to top level distributors and income earners, building a successful network marketing organization can take a minimum of 4 years.

Failing vs. Quitting

Failing and quitting are very different. First of all, failing implies that a person implemented some type of action that didn’t produce an intended result. Failing is a short term action that tells us to redirect specific efforts.

Look at Thomas Edison. He wanted to invent the light bulb. He failed thousands of times. These failures led to his invention of the light bulb! Thomas Edison had a huge “why”!

Quitting, on the other hand is a choice. It’s final, you’re done. No “why” needed.

You can fix failure, but you can’t fix quit. Once you understand that network marketing is a business, and not a “get rich quick business”, you’re halfway home!

MLM Success

The ultimate goal of all network marketers is to generate residual income. Residual income is the reward you receive for the time, energy and commitment you expend in the early days of your business. Although you may “fail” many times during these early days, be persistent and make the changes needed. You will eventually fail your way to success.

So, can anyone achieve MLM success? I believe it’s up to you. How big is your “why”?

To your success,

The 80 20 Rule Can Put Things in Perspective!

Planning your prospecting around the 80 20 rule can make your life easier once you understand the concept.

Hearing “No” time and time again isn’t fun, but it is a part of network marketing. We’ve all experienced it. Think about it. Any business that requires human interaction has its ups and downs. Not everyone agrees, never have, never will.

By applying the 80 20 rule in my life, I have realized that its never personal, its just a numbers game.

I use the rule as a guideline for planning. It gives me a realistic idea of what I need to do to achieve the results I want.

Never Attach an Emotion to the Outcome

Once you understand the nature of the beast, you will never take it personal again.

Realize this Basic Truth

No matter what you sell, products or services, more people will say “no” than “yes”.

Why? It’s a fact of life. The cosmic universe is designed this way. Pareto’s Principal. It’s the 80/20 rule.

Some will, some won’t. No big deal!

The 80 20 Rule

The Pareto principle (also known as the 80-20 rule, the law of the vital few, and the principle of factor sparsity) states that, for many events, roughly 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes.

Business management thinker Joseph M. Juran suggested the principle and named it after Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto, who observed in 1906 that 80% of the land in Italy was owned by 20% of the population; he developed the principle by observing that 20% of the pea pods in his garden contained 80% of the peas.

It is a common rule of thumb in business; e.g., “80% of your sales come from 20% of your clients”. Mathematically, where something is shared among a sufficiently large set of participants, there must be a number k between 50 and 100 such that “k% is taken by (100 − k)% of the participants”. The number k may vary from 50 (in the case of equal distribution, i.e. 100% of the population have equal shares) to nearly 100 (when a tiny number of participants account for almost all of the resource). There is nothing special about the number 80% mathematically, but many real systems have k somewhere around this region of intermediate imbalance in distribution. Source – Wikipedia

When you understand this principle, your life will become much easier. You will realize that attaching emotion to the outcome is simply another means of self abuse.

80% of your prospects are going to say no to your offer, but 20% will say yes. You can build a huge organization with that 20%!

Let’s take it a step further. There’s a very real chance that 80% of those prospects who join you won’t build their business. The good news, 20% will. Yep, you can build a fortune with that 20%.

Consider these 80 20 Rule Statistics:

“80% of your business will come from 20% of your customers.”

“80% of your personal results will come from 20% of your personal efforts.”

“80% of your entire organization’s sales will come from 20% of your team.”

Are you starting to see a pattern?

It’s Just a Numbers Game.

If you want more personal hostings, show more people your business.

It’s important to understand this. It’s not personal. The sooner you apply the 80 20 rule to your prospecting, the sooner you will start building a large organization and achieving success.

Increase your presentations, and you will increase your business. All successful distributors realize that the next “no” just moves them closer to the next “yes”.

As you present your offer to more people, you work your way through the learning curve. You become more efficient and more confident with each presentation. Your numbers go up. Your business grows faster. Be the snowball!

It’s a business. Don’t attach emotion to the outcome and by all means, don’t take it personal.
